Here, kitty, kitty…

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

The Pet Project has had a lot of success reaching out to the dog community.   People who have dogs tend to do things together with other people who have dogs, and those people have friends who have dogs…etc.  It’s been great to get so much feedback from dog lovers and so many generous donations.

That being said, the cats and kittens of the world could use a little food too.  Where, oh where are the crazy cat ladies of America?  Where are the magnanimous Manx lovers?   The sophisticated Siamese owners?  The caring Calico and the thoughtful Tabby folks?

Put the word out, if you can, to all the cat lovers you know.  Don’t make me start hanging out at fabric stores and Star Trek conventions.

Who wants to help?

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Hello, generous people.  The Pet Project is trying to compile a list of volunteers because we’re growing quickly and could use the help.

We need all kinds of help with fundraising, outreach, searching for grant possibilities, etc

If you’re interested in spending some time to help feed someone’s critters, let TPP know by sending an email to thepetprojectmn@gmail.com and let us know which hours you’d like to be available, how often you would want to volunteer, what areas you might be interested in, what neighborhoods you’re close to, etc.

In The News!

Hey folks, check it out.  The Daily Planet did an article about The Pet Project.

I’m super excited about it.

Things are really picking up steam

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

I’d really like to thank everyone that’s been getting the word out about TPP.  People have been contacting me left and right about participating in events, ideas for ways to get more food, and volunteering to help out.  Your generosity is overwhelming and wonderful.  I could have never expected that things would go this well this quickly.

To all of the volunteers….I’m hanging on to your emails because I’m really hoping that one day really soon, I’ll need all the help I can get because there will be so much food to deliever, I won’t know what to do with myself.

As a side note, people from different counties have been contacting me wondering if TPP will make it out their way.  Are any of you living further out that would like to get involved in food/supply collection and donation?

I’m still working on getting a list of veterinarians who will volunteer their time.  The responses have been really positive, but I’d like to have at least 20 or so sign on before I open the flood gates.  If you love your vet, send me their name/email/phone number….whatever you’ve got.

THANK YOU, GENEROUS PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA!

There IS such a thing as a free lunch

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

My friend Tim sent me this information.  It would be a great way to give TPP some vittles without putting a dent in your own pocketbook.  Let’s give some dogs and cats in the Metro a free lunch (and breakfast and dinner)

Here’s something that’s been posted on lots of the deal/freebie blogs.

Target coupon:http://www.organicgrocerydeals.com/forums/view.php?pg=coupon_generator
Purina coupon: http://www.giveabowl.com

Chef Michael’s 24 oz. bags of dog food are regularly priced at $4.49 at Target. Use the $3.50/1 manufacturer’s coupon here combined with the $1.50/1 Target coupon here to get the bags free after coupons.

Also, Target is running a promotion this week which you’ll earn a $5 Target gift card when you purchase 2 $10 bags of Chef Michael’s dog food. If you’d rather purchase the large bags, you can buy 2 for $20, use 2 of the $3.50/1 coupons and 2 of the $1.50/1 coupons and you’ll spend $10 plus tax out of pocket and get a $5 Target gift card back. Thus, you’ll essentially only pay $5 plus tax for two large bags of premium dog food!
